Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner, Bentley's custom coachbuilding unit, has designed a unique keycase to mark the 100th anniversary of Bentley. It is made from Dark Stained Burr Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes an eagle-like "B" paperweight, keys, and an album of never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.

This is the ideal way to greet a new vehicle owner.

Aesthetics

Bentley is a brand who takes its aesthetics seriously. This is evident in the precise placement of its quilting and the use of leather that is made from products of cattle and sustainable managed forests, and the innovative patterns of its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you walk up to it and showcases its stunning sculptural design and power through carefully planned lighting.

The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top car. The rear tonneau, for instance, featured the largest piece of book-matched, dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to a production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

It is this unique design, craftsmanship and attention to detail that have established Bentley as the world's most desirable automotive brand. The company is constantly pushing the boundaries with the latest technologies and hand-crafted products. This includes the introduction of an electronic tilt-opening rear sunroof, as well as a custom-designed Apple iPad docking station.

Bentley celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019 a century after it was founded. The marque, which is owned by Volkswagen without a partner following years of tense relations with BMW and BMW, had planned a number of special events and launches to commemorate this historic occasion. Prior to pandemic planning taking the center stage, the company was hosting a variety of special events and launches planned to mark this historic occasion.

Design

Bentley is known for its extravagant and luxurious automobiles and keys, but even keys are designed to stand out. The Bentayga Key is made of sterling silver with the large B' logo to inform everyone that you drive a Bentley. It's also engraved with the years 1919 and 2019 to commemorate the company's centenary.

The Mulsanne was redesigned and improved by Bentley Mulliner, to be the ultimate Grand Touring car. It has two opposing pairs of rear seats that are designed to be reminiscent of luxury private aviation and provides passengers with unbeatable comfort and security. A custom heating, ventilation and air conditioning system was designed to ensure each passenger has the ideal climate control setting.

Alongside a range of elegantly executed styling revisions The Mulsanne is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre W12 engine capable of producing 560bhp as well as 479lbft of torque. This power is paired with a new suspension system that provides Bentley's trademark smooth ride.

Bentley has released a special specification for cars manufactured after 2019 to commemorate its centennial. It is known as the Centenary Specification. The cabin is decorated with cross-stitching as well as contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are stitched in Centenary Gold, adding to the feeling of celebration. A bespoke Bentley key case is included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne Key has two buttons: one that opens the trunk, and another that starts the vehicle. The key also has a switch for turning on the parking brake. There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors when parking in tight spaces. This feature can assist you in getting into and out of your vehicle more easily.

Each key takes about two days to create. The key is cut by hand, shaped, stitched to seal, and polished to produce a premium result. It is lightweight and durable and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is reminiscent of the Volkswagen Phaeton's big car key, however it feels more substantial and premium.

It is also equipped with Secure-A-Key that helps to prevent theft of keys with no key.  bentley valet key  is placed inside the remote control fob, and is disabled if the key is not used for a short period of time. It prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can be used to open and start the car.

Bentley's distinctive design is a reflection of the values of the company, which include fine craftsmanship and engineering expertise as well as cutting-edge technologies. Its headquarters in Crewe are home to over 4000 employees who are responsible for the design, development, and production of Bentley vehicles. They apply their expertise that have been passed down through generations to cutting-edge automotive technology. This is British manufacturing at its best.

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to create their own vehicle. The "mood station" allows customers to choose images that inspire them. They can range from beautiful landscapes to sporting events. As each selection is made, a pattern appears which shows the design and color preferences for the custom Bentley.

The guests are given the keys in a case designed by hand and containing the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. The keys can also be outfitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps that light up the door's opening pathway with the owner's name and/or emblem when they approach the vehicle.

Bentley claims it takes about 500 man-hours to design and assemble the average Mulsanne. One of the main reasons for that lengthy effort is a deliberate decision to adopt the latest technology. The Crewe factory workers do not utilize a machine for arranging perfectly matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead, they do it by hand. And rather than letting the car's built-in sensors guide it to parallel and perpendicular parking spots drivers must perform the task by hand.

In the course of the event, Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization capabilities with one particular example of the Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley. The limited edition cars come with a key that displays a piece of the 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
